AMMA

   AMMA

Oh! Amma, the beacon of stability,
Your love shines with endless reliability.
In your arms, I find true tranquility,
A haven of warmth and boundless agility.
Your wisdom holds the glow of credibility,
Guiding my steps with gentle feasibility.
Through storms of life, your strength’s durability,
Turns chaos to calm with serene sensibility.
With a heart that brims with hospitality,
You nurture dreams with divine versatility.
Even in times of pain and fragility,
You teach the art of enduring vitality.
Oh! Amma, your love’s eternal capability,
A light of hope, a symbol of nobility.
Oh! Amma, your care defies all volatility,
Steady and pure, an endless possibility.
Your touch dissolves the weight of hostility,
Turning harsh worlds into realms of fertility.
Through your eyes, I see life’s morality,
A path adorned with grace and legality.
In your voice, there’s soothing accountability,
A melody that anchors my sensibility.
Your embrace, a fortress of impenetrability,
Sheltering me with unmatched credibility.
Oh! Amma, you are life’s purest reality,
A timeless bond of unspoken spirituality.

Manjuvirattu: A Symphony of Sivaganga

Manjuvirattu: A Symphony of Sivaganga

In Sivaganga’s fields, where heritage thrives,
Manjuvirattu breathes, its spirit alive.
Bulls adorned with pride, a sight to behold,
Legends of valor, timeless and bold.
Villages gather, their hearts beat as one,
Awaiting the dance under the golden sun.

The thud of hooves shakes the sacred land,
The bulls charge forth, majestic and grand.
Youth with courage, their grip like steel,
Chasing the dream, their fate to seal.
Victory or fall, their spirits don’t sway,
Each man a hero on this grand day.

Sugarcanes sway in the festival’s cheer,
Pongal pots bubble, spreading warmth near.
Drums beat loud, echoing the past,
Binding the present with traditions steadfast.
Elders recount tales of times bygone,
A culture preserved, forever shone.

The bulls, symbols of strength and might,
Charge through the arena, a glorious sight.
Their horns glisten in the morning’s hue,
Challenging the brave, steady and true.
In this sacred bond of man and beast,
Honor and pride find their feast.

The air carries laughter, the crowd’s delight,
Under Sivaganga’s skies so bright.
Children cheer as legends unfold,
Stories to cherish, more precious than gold.
For Manjuvirattu is more than a game,
It’s the essence of life, a cherished flame.

As dusk settles over the vibrant plains,
The spirit of unity remains and sustains.
Bonds are forged in the heat of the chase,
An eternal connection to this sacred space.
Manjuvirattu, a festival divine,
Forever Sivaganga’s heart shall enshrine.

Jallikattu

               Jallikattu

In Tamil soil, where culture thrives,
Jallikattu’s heartbeat strongly survives.
From ancient seals to Sangam's lore,
The bull’s charge echoes from times of yore.
Man and beast, a duel divine,
Bound by valor, traditions intertwine,
A dance of courage on heritage’s shrine.

The Pulikulam bull, fierce and free,
Challenges men in the field’s spree.
Grasp the hump, embrace the test,
With strength and wit, prove you're the best.
A token of coins glimmers on horns,
Amid the crowd where bravery is born,
A spectacle woven in Tamil morns.

Pongal's joy lights the village square,
Mattu Pongal sees bulls prepare.
Decorated gates, the vadi vasal awaits,
For champions bold to face their fates.
The roar of crowds, the dust-filled air,
Man and bull, a bond laid bare,
In this contest rare, no room for despair.

Yet critics rise, with voices loud,
Condemning this sport, drawing a crowd.
Animal welfare, their earnest plea,
Citing cruelty where pride should be.
But Tamils defend, their heritage clear,
Jallikattu’s essence they hold dear,
A legacy preserved through every year.

Protests surged in Marina’s sands,
Unity forged by countless hands.
Ordinances passed, the ban repealed,
The spirit of Jallikattu, never concealed.
For bulls are cherished, not merely tamed,
Their strength revered, their role acclaimed,
In Tamil hearts, their glory proclaimed.

Legends say in Mullai’s green,
The Ayar tribes this sport had seen.
From Indus seals to Madurai’s art,
Jallikattu holds a timeless part.
A symbol of life, of toil, of grit,
Where man and beast together fit,
In harmony, a culture lit.

Oh Jallikattu, eternal flame,
Bearer of Tamil pride and name.
Through trials, bans, and battles fought,
Your essence lives in every thought.
For courage and love you signify,
A legacy no force can deny,
A Tamil anthem under the sky.

C. N. Annadurai

C. N. Annadurai

In the land of Tamil Nadu, where legends were born,
A leader emerged, in history to adorn,
C. N. Annadurai, or "Anna" with love,
A visionary, a poet, sent from above.

Born in Kancheepuram, in humble abode,
To Natarajan, a weaver, and Bangaru Ammal's fold,
Raised by sister Rajamani with care,
Young Annadurai's journey, a story to share.

At Pachaiyappa's High School, he started his quest,
But destiny had other plans, it would suggest,
He dropped out to toil, as a clerk he'd strive,
In the mundane routine of an ordinary life.

But knowledge beckoned, he couldn't stay still,
Back to school, he'd go, with a determined will,
Graduated from college, an MA he'd acquire,
In economics and politics, his mind set on fire.

As a teacher, he'd start, at Pachaiyappa High,
A journalist next, his wings were set to fly,
With words as his weapon, he'd take a stance,
In the world of journalism, he'd enhance.

In '35, the Justice Party he'd embrace,
A sub-editor, with vigor and grace,
Under Periyar's leadership, he'd refine,
His skills as a writer, his path did entwine.

Editing 'Viduthalai,' a voice for the voiceless,
In '44, he'd boldly confess,
His own journal, 'Dravida Nadu' unfurled,
A beacon for change in the Dravidian world.

In '49, a moment of destiny arrived,
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) he'd contrive,
A new political force, with a vision so bright,
Annadurai's leadership, a guiding light.

The anti-Hindi protests, a cause he'd uphold,
Against language imposition, he'd be bold,
In '65, a day of mourning he'd decree,
A fight for language rights, a legacy.

A man of principles, of courage and grace,
Protests against leaders, he'd bravely face,
From Nehru to Rajagopalachari's rule,
Annadurai's voice, a powerful tool.

Renaming towns, fighting for the oppressed,
His mission for justice, he'd never rest,
For Dravida Nadu, his dream would evolve,
A separate state for Dravidian resolve.

But times did change, and the path did sway,
Tamil Nadu's cause, he'd champion each day,
In '67, the chief minister's chair he'd attain,
Anna's rule, a new era to ordain.

Legalizing self-respect marriages, a progressive decree,
Retitling Madras to Tamil Nadu, history to be,
World Tamil Conference, a grand celebration,
Under Anna's leadership, a Tamil declaration.

A two-language policy, a vision so wise,
Pictures of gods in offices, he'd revise,
Anna's legacy, a chapter so grand,
In the heart of Tamil Nadu, forever to stand.

A journey to New York, for cancer's cruel fate,
On 3rd February '69, Anna's light would abate,
But his funeral procession, a record-breaking sight,
Millions in mourning, their candles alight.

His remains now rest on Marina's shore,
Anna Memorial, a tribute evermore,
Anna Nagar and Anna University, his name,
In the annals of Tamil Nadu, a lasting flame.

Jawaharlal Nehru, in Parliament's hall,
Hailed Anna's speeches, a statesman's call,
A life-size statue unveiled with pride,
In the Parliament House, his legacy to guide.

C. N. Annadurai, a leader so true,
In the hearts of his people, he'll forever renew,
His vision lives on, his words still inspire,
A legacy of change, a beacon of fire.

Poem on Tholar R. NALLAKANNU

 R. NALLAKANNU

In Tiruvaikuntam’s sacred land he was born,
A child of promise, of a future yet sworn,
From affluence to activism, a bold new tide,
Patriot and fighter, with justice as his guide.
At fifteen, he embraced the red banner's call,
For freedom and equality, he stood tall,
Through prison bars, his spirit would not fall.

The Communist ideal, he wore like a crown,
For the voiceless, the oppressed, he laid life down.
He walked with the downtrodden, ate their bread,
Teaching courage where fear had once tread.
A casteless dream, his life’s noble song,
To shatter chains of centuries-long,
For truth and reform, he marched strong.

In battles of sand and rivers’ gentle flow,
He waged wars to let nature’s bounty grow.
Hunger became his weapon, steadfast and true,
Till dams rose and justice broke through.
A voice for the earth, a guardian of green,
His efforts made Thamirabarani serene,
A beacon for causes yet unseen.

Eloquent in speech, and powerful in pen,
He wrote of reforms, of rights for all men.
Books flowed like rivers, thoughts deep and wide,
To unify the lands and cast discord aside.
In parliament’s halls or on Coimbatore’s stage,
His resolve was fire, his wisdom sage,
Though votes were lost, his legacy’s an eternal page.

Honored by nations, a Gandhian heart,
Yet simple in life, from wealth apart.
Through hunger strikes, awards, and strife,
He lived the essence of a humble life.
From “Thagaisal Tamizhar” to China’s embrace,
His journey adorned with dignity and grace,
A life unmatched in history’s race.

Now past a century, yet his fire remains,
A sentinel of justice through struggles and pains.
Respected by foes, revered by peers,
A man who shaped Tamil Nadu’s years.
Let his story inspire, his deeds forever ring,
A hero who rose, a man who made hearts sing,
He is a legend whose praises we bring.

For those who seek justice, his path is clear,
To walk with courage, to banish fear.
Through rivers and fields, through voices and ink,
He taught the world anew how to think.
Let his life be a torch in the darkest night,
For freedom and equality, the eternal fight,
He is a star burning bright.

Through jail cells and shadows, his will stood firm,
Each day a battle, each night a term.
Seven years he spent in a prisoner’s cage,
Emerging stronger, a lion uncaged.
He fought for the worker, the farmer, the meek,
Giving them courage, teaching them to speak,
For justice, his life became an endless seek.

In Nanguneri’s fields, where poverty thrived,
He worked with the people, their hopes revived.
Sharing their meals, their struggles, their pain,
Building a dream where equality reigns.
Through whispers of caste, he roared out loud,
In every village, he gathered a crowd,
To dismantle oppression, his vows were vowed.

No wealth did he seek, no riches to claim,
For Nallakannu, the cause was his name.
Even the mighty, in his presence, bowed,
For truth and humility made him proud.
A leader beloved by all sides of the aisle,
He spoke with wisdom, free of guile,
Earning respect with every mile.

In the twilight of life, his battles persist,
For rivers unpolluted, and forests kissed.
Thamirabarani, his native river's soul,
He saved from plunder, fulfilling his goal.
A court’s decree, a fight he had won,
His legacy shines like the noonday sun,
A testament to deeds nobly done.

For Nallakannu, the world is a stage,
Where justice and peace must fill every page.
From rural hamlets to bustling towns,
He raised his voice for humanity’s crowns.
Awards and honors adorned his name,
Yet his simplicity remained the same,
A leader immune to fortune and fame.

Let us sing of a man, steadfast and pure,
Whose ideals and vision will always endure.
R. Nallakannu, a beacon of light,
Guiding the oppressed through the darkest night.
In history’s heart, his story will dwell,
A tale of courage no words can quell,
The legend of a hero we’ll forever tell.

Kalaignar Mu Karunanidhi

Kalaignar Karunanidhi

From Thirukkuvalai's soil, a child arose,
With words as his weapon, he challenged foes.
Kalaignar, a thinker with dreams so vast,
A voice for the voiceless, a bridge to the past.
In Tamil’s embrace, his legacy grows.

A writer, a leader, a visionary bold,
Through scripts and speeches, his stories were told.
In cinema's glow, his ideals shone,
For justice and equity, he stood alone.
In every word, his passion took hold.

As a statesman, he carved a path of change,
Challenging traditions, breaking the strange.
Land reforms he brought, for the farmer's plight,
Lifting the oppressed into the light.
Through every policy, his vision did range.

In DMK's fold, he carried the flame,
For Tamil pride, he fought in its name.
Against oppression, he raised his voice,
Giving the downtrodden a reason to rejoice.
His dedication etched in history’s frame.

The Arignar Anna ideology he kept,
For social justice, his promises were met.
Education’s light he spread far and wide,
With schools and schemes, he stood by their side.
In Kalaignar’s heart, every soul was adept.

Tamil Eelam's cause found strength in his care,
For Tamil's unity, he offered his prayer.
A poet’s heart beat in his chest,
Expressing love for the people oppressed.
With every act, his vision was rare.

Through five decades, his rule stood tall,
Navigating storms, answering every call.
His pen remained sharp, his resolve unshaken,
For the betterment of all, his path was taken.
A champion of justice, beloved by all.

From the Kural to modern Tamil's grace,
He preserved a culture, a people’s face.
The golden script of his works will stay,
Lighting Tamil Nadu’s path every day.
In Kalaignar's spirit, we find our place.

Though time has taken his mortal frame,
His ideals endure, his eternal flame.
Kalaignar, the architect of Tamil’s pride,
Forever he walks by the people's side.
In hearts and history, he remains the same.

Kalaigar Mu Karunanidhi

In the heart of Tamil Nadu's verdant land,
A legend's tale, we now understand,
Muthuvel Karunanidhi, his name renowned,
A statesman, writer, in history's hallowed ground.

Born in Thirukkuvalai, on a June morn,
From the small village he was born,
A culture of caste, he saw its despair,
Injustice and bias, he couldn't bear.

At just fourteen, he took a noble stand,
Against Hindi's imposition, across the land,
The Anti-Hindi agitation, he would lead,
A voice for his people, he'd plant the seed.

Tamil Nadu's Tamil Manavar Mandram he formed,
The Dravidian Movement's student wing stormed,
A newspaper, Murasoli, in his youth conceived,
From humble beginnings, the DMK he'd achieve.

A playwright, a poet, a writer so profound,
Historical novels and screenplays renowned,
In the world of cinema, his talents did thrive,
Composing dialogues that made hearts come alive.

A critic of religion and superstition's hold,
An atheist, rationalist, with stories to be told,
M.G. Ramachandran's hero, he'd script and craft,
For Sivaji Ganesan, dialogues that would last.

In '57, his political journey took flight,
To Madras state legislature, he'd ignite,
The DMK's treasurer, deputy leader in the fray,
A path of leadership, he'd pave his way.

C.N. Annadurai's legacy he'd inherit,
A leader and thinker, their ideals he'd wear it,
Periyar's vision, he'd fiercely uphold,
A champion of justice, his story unfolds.

Emergency in '75, a battle he'd wage,
Against Indira Gandhi's authoritarian stage,
Dismissed in '76, a setback he'd bear,
But resilience and strength, he'd proudly declare.

In '71, a landslide victory he'd seize,
Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with great ease,
A partner, MGR, by his side he'd find,
A political journey of a complex kind.

MGR's demise in '89, he'd rise once more,
To lead the DMK, his vision to explore,
But dismissed again in '91, for links they'd claim,
To LTTE's shadow, casting doubts on his name.

In '96, a comeback he'd stage,
With Tamil Maanila Congress, they'd engage,
In Deve Gowda's United Front, they'd unite,
A resurgence in power, a beacon of light.

Alliances formed, alliances broken,
In politics' storm, his words were spoken,
In 2001, from his house, he'd be taken,
An act of vendetta, by Jayalalitha, forsaken.

In 2004, with Congress, he'd ally,
A landslide win, the opposition would cry,
Chief Minister again in 2006, he'd return,
A political journey, with lessons to learn.

In 2014, he'd stand alone,
A solitary battle, seeds he'd sown,
In 2016, the opposition's might,
In Tamil Nadu's Assembly, he'd shine so bright.

Affirmative action, state autonomy he'd pursue,
For lower castes, opportunities grew,
A caste-based quota, a helping hand,
For government jobs, a level playing land.

Nepotism's accusations, controversies he'd face,
Yet championing justice, he'd hold his grace,
Supporting LTTE and Sri Lanka's strife,
In the complexities of politics, a balancing life.

Initiatives galore, for industry's stride,
In Tamil Nadu, his vision wouldn't hide,
A towering tribute to Thiruvalluvar's art,
A monument in Kanyakumari, a work of heart.

Classical language status, to Tamil he'd grant,
A legacy of achievements, firm and avant,
Muthuvel Karunanidhi, a name we revere,
In Tamil Nadu's history, forever clear.

He served for decades, with vigor and might,
A beacon of hope, a guiding light,
A leader, a writer, a legend, indeed,
In the hearts of many, his legacy will lead.

Forever he stands, Tamil Nadu's pride.
